My Y Stories:
(Segue from post-lunch activity)
Thank you! Okay, show of hands: who remembers about a year ago, we announced the commencement of the My Y Story testimonial effort, and we asked you to refer participants to me to capture their stories?
Okay now, show of hands, how many of you remember refering story leads to me and the marketing department? Well I, along with the organization thank you so much for sending me those leads and referrals. I am excited to share with you today where we are with this effort, and to unveil the My Y Story page with you.
At your tables you will see the laminated flyer with the QR code. If you haven’t yet already, feel free to scan the code at any point today. The code will take you directly to our My Y Story page, where you can watch videos and read stories about the impact you have on the folks in our communities. To make sure you have access to the page whenever you’d like, feel free to bookmark it today on your phones, but we will also be sending an email with navigation and links to all our stakeholders. Soon we will be promoting the page directly to our members and participants as well.
My Y Stories are a communication arm of the Diversity, Inclusion and Global Engagement visibility efforts of our Y. More simply put, My Y Stories demonstrate how our Y is for all. As we say on the Y For All webpage, Diversity and Inclusion is not about groups. It’s about individuals and families. Everyone has a different story how they came to our branches and programs, and those who have shared with us share two things in common: they come to us from totally unique backgrounds and circumstances, yet experience very similar, if not the same outcomes: the feelings of safety, acceptance and belonging. The safety to take on new challenges in their lives. The acceptance of who they are where they are. And the belonging of community.
These stories demonstrate the incredible impact you are having, and the more stories we curate, the wider your impact can be known. Thank you for the work you do, the impact you have, and for sharing your special people with me and Brittney. Up to this point Brittney has done all the filming and editing of the videos on the page, and Marie posts the stories and maintains the page. On behalf of the DIG 4KeyC and Marketing teams, I thank you for taking the time to check out all of our stories in any time you have, for continuing to refer members and participants with me to capture and curate, and for sharing the page and our stories with anyone and everyone you believe will be touched by the impact you have. Cheers!
