How I remember our early twenties

Didn't have a lot,  Bank account about empty

We had dreams, we stumbled along

You had the stage I had a song

The years pass by … as they always do

Came the kids, jobs and mortgage too

No slowing down, keeping up the pace

Falling to the rhythms, Staying in the race

Looking back now,    what would I've done?

Been a little kinder,  shown a little more love

Keep my eyes wide open seen the beauty all around

I’d be more thankful, for the you I’d found

Saturday baseball, piano lesson at three

Church on Sunday, honey, seen my car keys?

Paying for braces, summer camps, new shoes

Date night ice cream ….at the local drive through

 

Well here we stand, where we’ve been led

Wisdom from the years,  still facing ahead

Bruised and scarred, but we’re both made better, 

Oh, I still remember, how you looked on the sweater.
