 D I would like to write a country song they play on the  G radio. 
It would be about  D life and truth, things that we all  A know. 
 D Unlike today's music, it would have true country  G soul,
Just like the  D songs you hear on the  A Grand Ole Opry  D show.

 D Country music has a beat all of it's  G own. 
When you  D hear it you want to dance and try to sing  A along. 
 D The whining of a steel guitar and a fidel being  G played, 
These are the  D special sounds that  A country music has  D made. 

 D Country music is accepted all around this  G world, 
Celebrated  D on TV with the CMA a A wards. 
  Dolly, Tammy, Reba & Patsy, Johnny, George &  G Merle.
These are the  D names we think of so  A give country a  D whirl.

 D I am just a good old boy from a small rural  G town. 
In the days of the  D 8 track tape we listened to the country  A sound. 
 D Back in the 60's when I went to  G school, 
Me and all of  D my classmates thought  A country was  D cool.
