Why Santa Goes Ho Ho Ho – Ellis and Wince Coles
D A D
I got a little secret. Can’t keep it no longer. Me and Eli knows why Santa goes Ho Ho Ho.
Grandma’s gone now. We never ever told her, that little mistake of forty years ago.
Now we can’t blame Grandma, her eyesight was failin. That thing once crystal clear was just a fog.
Every Christmas morning, she’d waddle up the hallway, just before the dawn to light the yuletide log.
Twas three a past midnight, what gruntin and groanin. I ran down the hallway this I gotta know.
There I saw Santa, he was jammed in the chimley just as tight as a one inch topin in a half inch hole.
Don’t panic Santa, I ran and got the crow bar. That big belt buckle in a minute must let go.
Then the belt it busted, the belly expanded. Now a bad situation was worse than a minute ago.
Don’t worry Santa, I grabbed his pants leg. I took a deep breath and counted one two three.
Not a move in Santa but off came his trousers. There he was in the chimley just nude as Santa can be.
Don’t panic Santa, I gotta go for Eli. Eli ‘ll know just how to get you free.
Down across the garden I was screamin and shoutin. Hurry up Eli, Christmas depends on we.
Down the hall came grandma, gotta light the yule log. She struck the match ,set the darkness all aglow.
She placed it in under, what she thought was the yulelog.
Then the chimley shattered with the screamin of Ho Ho Ho.
Oh look says Eli, there goes Santa. His pants was gone ,his bum as black as coal.
He always shouted Merry Christmas, how come by now he’s shoutin Ho Ho Ho.
When we found Grandma she was shiverin and shakin. She grabbed old Eli’s hand , would not let go.
Then she told us how she lit the yule log. We knew right then why Santa went Ho Ho Ho.
There me and Eli, we vowed together, for Grandma’s sake we would never tell.
It were not the yule log she lit that morning, She had put the match under Santa’s jingle bells.
Now it doesn’t matter, we can break the silence, cause all this happened many years ago.
But I am sure that Santa don’t forget it. Cause to this day he still shouts Ho Ho Ho.
Now we can’t blame Grandma, her eyesight was failin. The things once crystal clear was just a fog.
