This is the Irish version, sharing the same melody and chord progression as the somewhat more well know "Loch Lomond". Many old songs in the Celtic tradition (and others) share melodies. The claim as to which is the more authentic is often lost in the mists of time and often boils down to "Well, we stole it first!" :-) This is referred to as the "folk tradition". |
